Being conceived as a hybrid media project, "Flora, Luna-Corona 团花•月華" has two integral components:
- Interactive web project: www.floralunacorona.com
- Physical site-specific installation (shown below)
Flora, Luna-Corona 团花•月華 (physical iteration), 2023-2024
Site-specific Installation for Gibson House Museum, North York
"Flora" denotes all the plants of a particular place or period. Using this definition as a starting point, "Flora, Luna-Corona" is a multi-perspective exploration of the proximity between plants, land history, and diverse cultural expressions. Inspired by the gender-fluid Chinese fashion of zanhua or flower-adorning, this exhibit surveys how flora functions as cultural knowledge transcending the boundaries of binary, geography, and time.
Similar to a garden, in a city where we share the same soil, sunlight and moonlight, what kind of untold stories can be awakened through the power of nature?

The Gibson House iteration was developed as an exhibition and interactive talk during Toronto History Museums’ 2023 Artist Mentorship. Many thanks to the staffs and volunteers at the Gibson House, as well as the mentors of the Awakenings mentorship for helping me realizing this vision.
